When a payment fails or you cancel: the license pause and renewal, start to finish

This article walks you through what happens to Booked Solid OS when your subscription stops - because you canceled, a card was declined, or an invoice went unpaid - and exactly how to get back in. Short version: nothing is lost, and renewing takes one click in the app.

What pauses your license

Three things put the license on pause:

  • You cancel the subscription
  • An invoice goes unpaid
  • A payment becomes past due (for example, an expired card)

When any of these happen, the app stops at its sign-in screen with the message: Your license is paused. Renew it and everything picks up right where you left it. Next to it you get two buttons: Renew, which opens the purchase page, and Check again.

Your work is safe

A pause does not delete anything. All your local work, drafts, and settings stay on your computer exactly as you left them. The pause only blocks the app until the subscription is active again.

How to renew and get back in

  1. Click Renew on the paused screen and complete the payment, or fix the failed payment on your existing subscription.
  2. Back in the app, click Check again.
  3. That is it. You do not need to reactivate, and you never need a new license code. One Check again restores your session and everything picks up where you left it.

If it does not work

  • The app does not poll continuously while the paused screen is showing - click Check again yourself after renewing.
  • If you see Still the same for now, the subscription is not active yet on Stripe's side. A failed card retry or a checkout you did not finish keeps the license paused. Confirm the payment actually went through, then click Check again once more.

Good to know: what happens offline

The pause only reaches your computer through an online check. If your machine is offline when the pause happens, the app keeps working normally until its next online check - or until the 14-day offline grace period runs out, whichever comes first. So a laptop on a long tour will not lock the moment a payment fails; it locks when it next confirms your account online.

Prefer a fully managed experience? Booked Solid OS runs on your computer and you stay hands-on. If you would rather have this handled for you on a hosted platform (lead finding, follow-ups, email sending, invoicing, all managed in one place), take a look at KM Hub from the same team.
