You want to work in your own language, and there is no way to tell from the outside how far that goes. The question reaches us in a lot of shapes: is this also working in different languages, can I use the app in my language, does it work in other languages, are the menus in English only. Here is the full answer, and it comes in two halves, because Booked Solid OS has two separate language settings and almost everybody confuses them.
The short answer
Yes for the work, and now partly for the interface as well. Otto runs on Claude, which handles Finnish, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Hebrew and most other languages well. You can write to Otto in your language, and you can ask him to write your client emails, quotes and follow-ups in that language, and he follows your lead. One performer wrote in to say I bought the Otto hoping it can be used as multi language, and added that Finnish is one I prefer. The answer was yes: the actual work can be entirely in Finnish, even though Finnish appears in no picker anywhere in the app.
Separately, and this is the newer part, the app's own navigation and its main settings headings can now be switched to Spanish. If you searched for interfaz español or idioma español, that is the section you want. Both settings are explained below, along with what is honestly still English.
Setting one: the language Otto speaks to you
This one has been there for a while and it is the one that changes the most for you day to day. It decides the language Otto writes in when he talks to you.
- Open Settings > General.
- Scroll down to Appearance. Directly below the theme cards and the color pickers is a card headed Language.
- Leave it on Match how you write to me, or pick a fixed language from the select.
Match how you write to me is the default, and it means Otto answers in whatever language you typed in. Pick a fixed language instead and he stays in that language whatever you write.
This setting covers every place Otto speaks to you: the main Chat with Otto, the Help buddy, the summaries he writes, and his autonomous runs when he is working on his own.
The select currently offers twelve languages: English, Español (Spanish), Français (French), Deutsch (German), Italiano (Italian), Português (Portuguese), Nederlands (Dutch), Polski (Polish), Svenska (Swedish), Ελληνικά (Greek), Русский (Russian) and Українська (Ukrainian).
If your language is not on that list
Finnish, Hebrew, Danish, Czech and many others are not in the select, and that is not a wall. Leave the setting on Match how you write to me and write to Otto in your language. He mirrors you. The list exists so you can pin him to one language, not to limit which languages he understands.
Setting two: the app's interface language
This is the buttons, tabs and menus of the app itself, and it is a different setting in a different card. It arrived in version 1.11.13.
An earlier version of this guide told you that the Language setting does not translate the interface and that the buttons around Otto stay in English no matter what. That stopped being true in 1.11.13. There is now a real interface language switch.
This section exists because of a request from a performer in Spain. He wrote that my English level is quite low and that I'm already using the chat in Spanish and it works great, but that he still could not read the frame around the chat, so he asked plainly: I'd like to request the option to change the app's interface language. Five days later it shipped. If you sent us the same request, or you have been trying to change the app's interface language to understand it better, this is your answer.
Turn it on
- Check which version you are running. Open Settings > General and scroll to the Updates card. It tells you the version number in plain words. You need 1.11.13 or newer.
- If you are on an older build, the app updates itself in the background, so waiting is usually enough. If you would rather not wait, install the current version over the top from booked.kivimedia.co/download/mac, booked.kivimedia.co/download/win or booked.kivimedia.co/download/linux. Your leads, your history, your setup and your license stay exactly where they are.
- Back in Settings, find the card labelled Interface language / Idioma. It sits directly under the Language card from setting one.
- Choose Español. The change is immediate and there is nothing to restart.
The label on that card is bilingual on purpose. A Spanish speaker stuck in an English interface can still spot the word Idioma and find the switch.
What actually turns into Spanish
The main tabs across the top become Hoy, Eventos, Calendario, Tareas, Bandeja de entrada, Jugadas and Ajustes, and the ones under Más become Panel, Conexiones, Cerebro and Estudio. The section titles inside Settings follow as well, so you get Apariencia, Idioma, Tu voz, Tu cuenta, Permisos and the rest.
The honest limits
- Only the navigation and the main settings headings are translated so far. The explanation text inside each card, and most of the screens behind the tabs, are still English.
- Español is the only interface language shipped today. There is no French, German, Italian, Portuguese or Hebrew interface yet, and there is no way to add one yourself.
- Nothing about your data changes when you switch. It is display only.
If you need the whole app in Spanish, or you need one of the other languages, open a ticket and say so. That is not a polite brush off: the Spanish navigation you can switch on today exists because one person asked for it in a ticket, and the next stage is decided the same way.
The dead end people hit first
The obvious move is to set the Language select to Español and wait for the menus to change. Nothing happens, because that select does not touch the menus. It is Otto's language, only. Skip that route and use the Interface language / Idioma card instead.
The reverse trips people up too. Switching the interface to Español does not make Otto answer you in Spanish. They are two independent settings, so set both if you want both.
Your clients' language is separate from both
Whatever you choose for yourself, the drafts Otto prepares for your clients still go out in the language each client expects. A Spanish speaking client gets Spanish, an English speaking client gets English, and a Finnish client gets Finnish, regardless of what your own two settings say. Your language settings are about you reading the app, not about what your clients receive.
Speaking instead of typing
Hold to talk dictation understands 25 European languages automatically. There is no language to pick for it, and it does not follow either of the two settings above. Your audio never leaves your computer, because the speech model runs on your own machine. There is a separate guide in this help center on the first time you use voice dictation, including the one time model download.
Getting support in your language
Since 19 July 2026 the Booked Solid support assistant answers in Spanish, French, German, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese and Hebrew as well as English. If you tried the chat before that date and got back ¡Lo siento! Estoy capacitado para responder en English, that is fixed. Write in your own language and you will be answered in it.
One thing to do before you start a chat: fill in your name and email on the short form. Chats that start anonymously cannot be replied to, so if the conversation needs a human afterwards there is no way for anyone to reach you.
If it still is not right
Email bookedsolid@kivimedia.freshdesk.com and a person will help. Tell us three things and the answer comes back faster: which of the two settings you changed, the version number from Settings > General > Updates, and the language you want to work in. Write the message in your own language if that is easier for you.
