Bring your Mago CRM in: the desktop connection, and the CSV route for terminal and Pearl

Modified on Tue, 4 Aug at 1:28 PM

You went looking for the copy-paste Mago prompt, and it is not there any more. One owner wrote in twice inside fifteen minutes, saying almost the same thing both times: I need the prompt to connect my Mago crm. It was in the green room but now I'm redirected to your sales site, and i need the prompt that was in the green room for pearl for getting Claude to check mago. If that is you, the link did not break on your end and you have not lost anything. This article is the replacement for that page.

There is no secret "check Mago" prompt any more

Start here, because it saves you the hunt. The page you are remembering was called Bring your Mago into Booked Solid, and it lived in Chris Michael's old members area. That members area retired when Kivi Media took Booked Solid over, which is why the old link now bounces you to the main site. The prompts that lived on it went with it.

You do not need to find that page. There are two supported ways to bring Mago in today, and which one is right for you depends entirely on which edition you run. One of them needs no prompt at all. The other has a prompt, and it is printed in full below with nothing gated behind a sign-in.

First answer one question: desktop app, or terminal and Pearl?

This is the first thing support asks, because the two routes share nothing. Answer it before you read further.

  • If you installed Booked Solid as an app on your Mac, Windows, or Linux computer, you want Route A. The Mago connection is built in and there is no prompt to paste.
  • If you type to Claude in a terminal, or if your answer is I am running pearl (the edition that lives inside your own Claude account), you want Route B. It needs no license code and no desktop app.

Either way the thing you are trying to do is the same: bring my Mago history in, so Otto can work from your real contacts, venues and gig fees instead of guessing. Whether the question in your head is how do I import my Mago contacts as a one-time load, or how to keep Otto checking Mago live, both are covered below.

Route A: the built-in Mago connection (desktop app)

One dead end to kill first, because it wastes an afternoon. Mago is not an API key connection. If you go digging around mago.co for a key to paste, you will not find one. If an older help-center page lists Mago among the connections you finish with a pasted key, that page is wrong about Mago and is being corrected. Skip the key hunt entirely.

What Mago actually uses is your own mago.co login, entered once into a secure form on its card. Here is why that matters rather than being a detail: your email and password are encrypted together in your computer's local vault, and Booked Solid exchanges them directly with Mago for a temporary API token. Neither value is ever pasted into Otto's chat or into a terminal, which is genuinely safer than the old Green Room prompt was.

  1. Open Booked Solid and go to Connections.
  2. Scroll to the Client book group, which is where the CRM connectors sit, and find the Mago CRM card.
  3. Click Enter login. On this card the button says Enter login, not Paste key, which is your confirmation you are in the right place.
  4. Fill in Mago email and Mago password. These are the same two things you use to sign in at mago.co. If you are not certain they still work, sign in to Mago in your browser first and confirm.
  5. Save. The card's badge changes to Login saved.

Behind that save, Booked Solid trades your login with Mago for a temporary token, reads Mago's advertised API entry point, and then proves the connection by pulling one page of your contacts. That one-page read is the check, so a saved Mago login has already been tested against Mago rather than only stored.

After that, speak plainly to Otto. Say bring in my Mago history for the full pull, or check Mago for my recent leads for a quick look. Otto can read your Mago contacts, companies, leads, gigs and calls, with filters and paging across every page. Mago arrives read only, the way every connection does. If you widen it under Settings then Permissions, Otto can also create or update a lead, and only ever after you approve it. You can also ask Otto to download Mago's own full export files into your Booking HQ folder, which gives you a local copy of everything alongside the live connection.

To take the connection back out later, use Remove login on the same card.

Route B: download and read (terminal and Pearl)

The built-in connection above only exists in the desktop app. In the terminal, and on Pearl inside your own Claude, the reliable route is download-and-read. It is two steps, it needs no license code, and it needs no desktop app.

Step 1: download your records from Mago

Signed in at mago.co, grab one Mago export per record type. Each one is a normal file download, nothing special:

  • mago.co/Gig/Export for your booked shows and what they paid
  • mago.co/Lead/Export for your open inquiries
  • mago.co/Contact/Export for your people
  • mago.co/Company/Export for your venues and organizations

Two rules on those files. Keep the words Gig and Lead in the filenames, because that is how your booked shows and your open inquiries stay separable once they are read. And you can skip the call-history export, it is not needed for this.

Step 2: put them in your Booking HQ folder and paste this

Drop those four files into your Booking HQ folder, then paste Claude the following, word for word:

Bring my Mago history into my Booked Solid brain. I have downloaded my Mago exports (Gig, Lead, Contact, Company) into this folder. Read each file - they are saved in Mago's older Windows/Latin lettering, so decode accented names and curly quotes correctly - and work out from each file's headers and name whether it holds gigs, inquiries, people, or venues. Skip anything I deleted in Mago, and follow Mago's reference numbers so each gig and contact arrives tied to its organization. Then: give me a tally (how many booked gigs, inquiries, people, and venues came in); compute my average, median, and full-range fee, plus average fee per event type, from booked gigs only - never invent a fee, just leave out any gig that has none; list my top venues by money booked and my busiest inquiry sources; and honor any do-not-call or no-email flags. Write me one plain-language briefing, then fold those numbers into my brain files. This is read only: change nothing in my Mago account, only read the files I downloaded.

Do not trim the sentence about older Windows/Latin lettering. It looks like padding and it is not. Mago's exports are saved in an older, non-UTF-8 encoding, so without that instruction accented names and curly quotes arrive as garbage characters and you end up cleaning up a contact list by hand.

What the import does, and what it will not do

  • It reads only what you downloaded that day. There is no live link in this route, so re-download and run it again whenever you want a fresh picture.
  • It never invents a fee. A gig with no fee typed into Mago sits out of the fee math rather than being guessed at, so your averages stay honest.
  • It is read only. It changes nothing in your Mago account, it only reads the files sitting in your folder.
  • Nothing leaves your computer. The whole thing runs locally.

If you got here from a dead Green Room link

You are not misremembering. The page existed, it was called Bring your Mago into Booked Solid, and this article replaces it. The Green Room itself is still running, just not at that old link: search this help center for Green Room to find where it lives now and how to sign in.

One related thing that has caught Pearl owners out. If you download the desktop app and it asks for a license code, that is not a sign that something is broken with your purchase. Pearl and the desktop app are separate products, and Pearl runs inside your own Claude with no code and no download at all. Route B above is the whole answer to Mago for you, and it works today with nothing pending. If you want the desktop app as well, open a ticket and tell us the email you bought with and which edition you purchased, and we will sort out where you stand rather than guess.

If it still does not work

On Route A, the two things that go wrong are a Mago password that has changed since you saved it (remove the login and enter it again) and a login that cannot be unlocked after a computer or keychain change (same fix). On Route B, the usual snag is that the exports never made it into the Booking HQ folder you are actually working in, so Claude reports it cannot find them.

Still stuck? Email bookedsolid@kivimedia.freshdesk.com, tell us which edition you run and which step you reached, and a person will help.
