The Activity screen: watch Otto work on the Board and Live views

The Activity screen is where you watch Otto work in real time and step in whenever you want. Every engine run in Booked Solid OS - an Autopilot session, a play, a setup recipe, even your very first win - streams into this one screen, so you always know exactly what is happening and can steer it without stopping anything.

Opening the Activity screen

The Activity button sits right next to the Chat | Power view switch, above your conversation. When a job is running, the button shows a green running dot so you can spot live work from anywhere in the app.

You can also get there from a few other doors:

  • The engine banner that appears while a job runs shows the job title, the current step, and a "watch it in Activity" link - click it to jump straight in. The banner also has a Stop / Turn off button if you want to halt the job instead.
  • The Today tab has an Open Activity button.
  • The Tasks tab has a Watch live work in Activity button.

The status line: honest, always

At the top of the panel, a status line tells you the truth about the current run. While Otto is working you see a running dot. When the run ends, the wording is honest: it says finished when the job actually finished, and stopped when it was stopped. No spin, no vague "done" when something was cut short.

Board and Live: two ways to look at the same work

A segmented switch at the top of the panel gives you two views:

  • Board: the wide view. Running and queued jobs sit alongside any decisions parked for you, with the "Needs you" items always on top. This is the view for scanning everything at once. (For the full tour of gate cards and approvals, see the article "Approve, edit, or hold a decision".)
  • Live: the close-up. The running job is rendered as acts on a spine - a step-by-step story of the run.

Reading the Live view

Live is read-only, built for watching:

  • The current act is lit with a "doing this now…" highlight, so you can see at a glance exactly which step Otto is on.
  • Past acts settle into a calm, dimmed state as the run moves forward.
  • Tool work appears as small chips written in plain phrases, not technical names, so you know what Otto reached for at each step.

Steering a run without stopping it

At the bottom of the Activity screen sits a chat bar labeled "Answer Otto, make a decision, or tell him what to do next" with a Send button. This is a real two-way channel into the run:

  1. Type your message while the job is still running - an answer to a question Otto asked, a decision, or a course correction like "skip the third venue, they closed last month".
  2. Press Send.
  3. Otto picks up your reply mid-run and adjusts. You never have to stop the job and start over just to change direction.

What streams into Activity

Any engine run shows up here as acts on the spine: Autopilot sessions, plays you launch from the Plays tab, one-time setup recipes, and the guaranteed first win from your very first launch. If Otto is doing multi-step work, this is where you watch it.
