You opened Booked Solid OS and it asked you to sign in, even though you never signed out. This article explains every real reason that can happen, and why the fix is always the same quick step: sign in again. Nothing is lost when this happens.
First, the reassurance
Your work never leaves your computer. Your leads, drafts, and settings all stay on this machine, and an unexpected sign-out does not touch any of it. Signing in again takes seconds, and everything is exactly where you left it.
Reason 1: your computer's keychain changed
Your sign-in is stored in your computer's own secure keychain. If that keychain changes, the app can no longer read the stored sign-in. Common causes:
- You reinstalled the operating system
- You started using a new user profile on the same computer
- The keychain itself was reset or changed
When the stored sign-in cannot be read, the app treats you as honestly signed out rather than pretending you are still in. That is deliberate: a clear sign-in screen is better than an app that half-works. Sign in with your username and password and you are back.
Reason 2: settings.json was edited or restored by hand
The account state saved in the app's settings.json file is signed, so the app can tell when it has been changed outside the app. If that file was hand-edited, restored from an old copy, or only partly written (for example, the computer lost power mid-save), the account state no longer checks out and the app shows the sign-in screen. One sign-in, or one successful online check, rewrites the real state and everything is normal again.
Reason 3: 14 days fully offline
Once signed in, you can work fully offline for 14 days. The app quietly reconfirms your account at launch and every 6 hours while online. If the machine stays offline past 14 days, the gate changes to a connection prompt: Connect to the internet once so we can confirm your account. Your work is safe on this machine.
This one is not even a sign-out. Your password is fine. Get online once, let the check run, and you are back in.
What does NOT sign you out
A server outage or an unreachable connection never signs you out. If the account service cannot be reached, the app changes nothing on your machine and your offline grace covers the gap. Only an explicit refusal from the account service changes your local state.
Good to know
- The sign-in screen prefills your username, so you only need your password.
- Signing in again does not use up anything. There is no device limit, and your license is untouched.
- If the sign-in screen says the service could not be reached, that is a connection issue, not an account issue. Check your network and try again.
