Version 1.7.2 lets Otto reach your Outlook mail and calendar. There are two ways to connect: Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams) for your account in the cloud, and Outlook on this computer for the Outlook app you already use. Either way, no password is ever typed into Booked Solid, and Otto can never send an email on its own.
Connect Microsoft 365 (cloud)
This connects your Microsoft account directly, so it works even when the Outlook app is closed.
- Open Connections and find the Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams) card.
- Start the sign-in on its card. Booked Solid shows you a short code.
- In your own web browser, go to microsoft.com/devicelogin, type the code, and sign in to Microsoft the normal way.
- When Microsoft finishes, the card shows you as signed in. Switch the connection on.
You sign in at Microsoft, not in the app. Your password never touches Booked Solid. The only thing stored on your computer is a secure token in your operating system keychain.
What Otto can do
With read access, Otto can search your Outlook email and calendar, Teams chats, and your profile. It cannot change anything.
If you turn on write on the Permissions tab, Otto can also prepare an email draft. That draft lands in your Outlook Drafts folder for you to review. Otto is never given permission to send. Sending always stays with you, in Outlook.
Connect the Outlook app on this computer
If you would rather keep everything local, use the Outlook on this computer card instead. It drives the Outlook app you already set up, with no sign-in and no key.
- Open Connections and switch on Outlook on this computer.
- Otto reads recent mail from your Outlook inbox. With write turned on, it can prepare a draft in Outlook's own Drafts folder.
This card works on Mac and Windows only. As with the cloud version, there is no send. A draft waits in Outlook until you send it yourself.
If it does not work
- The sign-in code lasts about 15 minutes. If it expires, start the sign-in again to get a fresh one.
- If you cannot switch Microsoft 365 on, finish the sign-in on its card first, then switch it on.
- On a Mac, if the Outlook app connection is blocked, allow it under System Settings > Privacy & Security > Automation, then try again.
- To disconnect, sign out on the Microsoft 365 card. That clears the stored token.
