"Open Claude in your BookingHQ folder": what that means and how to do it on Mac and Windows

Modified on Sun, 20 Sep at 7:24 AM

The update note says "Open Claude in your BookingHQ folder and say this, word for word". If that sentence lost you, this page shows where the folder is, how to open a command window inside it, and what happens next. It takes about five minutes.

What the sentence means

Your BookingHQ folder is the folder Booked Solid works out of in the terminal. Claude is the assistant that reads it. "Open Claude in your BookingHQ folder" means: open a command window, step into that folder, and start Claude there, so it can see the folder and update it.

Where the folder is

It lives in your user folder, named BookingHQ. On a Mac that is ~/BookingHQ. On Windows it is C:\Users\yourname\BookingHQ. If OneDrive redirects your folders on Windows, look under OneDrive\BookingHQ instead.

Mac

  1. Press Command and Spacebar together, type Terminal, press Enter. A mostly empty window opens with a line ending in % or $.
  2. Type cd ~/BookingHQ and press Enter.
  3. Type claude and press Enter. Claude starts inside the folder.

Windows

  1. Press the Windows key, type PowerShell, press Enter. The window should say Windows PowerShell and the prompt should start with PS. If it only shows C:\ you opened Command Prompt instead; close it and try again.
  2. Type cd $HOME\BookingHQ and press Enter.
  3. Type claude and press Enter.

If you set up the bookedsolid shortcut in your first session, typing bookedsolid on its own does steps 2 and 3 for you.

Then say the update sentence

With the Green Room package already in your Downloads folder, type this, word for word, and press Enter:

update my BookingHQ from the package I just downloaded, following the updating guide inside it

Claude follows the updating guide that ships in the package. It copies _config, brain, leads, inbox and queue into a dated backup folder first, checks the download is complete, then lists exactly what it will replace and waits for your yes. It only replaces the playbook files (CLAUDE.md, stages, references, templates, scripts and the like). Your bookings, leads, drafts and settings are never overwritten. When it finishes, say check my workspace and it checks every file against the published list.

If it does not work

  • "command not found: claude" or "claude is not recognized": Claude Code is not installed on this computer yet, or it is installed but not on your path. Install it on a Mac with curl -fsSL https://claude.ai/install.sh | bash, or on Windows with irm https://claude.ai/install.ps1 | iex, then close and reopen the window and try claude again. Claude Code comes with Claude Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. The free plan does not include it.
  • "No such file or directory" after cd: the folder is somewhere else. Find it in Finder or File Explorer, note the full path, and use that path after cd.
  • Why not just say "update booked solid"? A folder set up in July checks an address that stopped being restocked, so that phrase answers "you are current" even when you are not. The package sentence above bypasses that check once. After this update, "update booked solid" works again.
Prefer a fully managed experience? Booked Solid OS runs on your computer and you stay hands-on. If you would rather have this handled for you on a hosted platform (lead finding, follow-ups, email sending, invoicing, all managed in one place), take a look at KM Hub from the same team.
